Breed: Belgian Malinois

Likes: Wally loves all toys. He also loves swimming, dock diving and practicing his protection work.

Favorite Toy/Treat/Walk: Wally’s all time favorite thing in the world is “biting the bad guy” aka Billy the human tug toy. If you want to see Wally in action go to http://youtu.be/4e49u_Psh-k

Best Tricks: The Call Off – Wally can go full force at the bad guy and stop in his tracks when given the command.

Shiloh, German Shepherd Dog

Shiloh Foss-Sutherland

Name: Shiloh

Owner: Patti Foss-Sutherland

City: Peoria, Arizona

Breed: German Shepherd Dog

Likes: Shiloh LOVES to run, and chase a ball, and run, and swim, and did I mention she likes to run? Shiloh says her pet-peeve is when the rabbits sit right outside the window of the den in our home. They taunt her by sitting completely still even when her nose is pressed against the window and she “booofffs” at them. (A “booofff” is different from a “bark”.)

Favorite Toy/Treat/Walk: Shiloh’s favorite toy is any ball (tennis, Kong) that she can retrieve. My arm gives out throwing a ball long before her legs give out running after one!

Best Tricks: Shiloh’s new trick is to run and jump off the edge of the pool after her floating retrieving toy. Hmmmmm – can anyone say “dock dog?”

Arrival Story/Bio:

Shiloh is four years old. We got her when she was about six months old. At that time she was all black except for some brown on her legs. Shiloh is a registered therapy dog (as are my other dogs Dakota and Dudley). We volunteer for Hospice Of The Valley in the “Pet Connections” program and currently make weekly visits to 11 patients. She has always been a very energetic girl. Her nickname is “Squirrel” (reminds me of a scene from the movie “Up!”). Shiloh likes to rearrange/re-place things….every morning when I wake up I find she has removed my washcloth from the bathtub and placed it somewhere else in the house. Shoes and magazines are not excempt from her attention. If they are left in the living room, she will simply re-place only one of the shoes outside (usually after chewing only one of the plastic tips off the end of a lace). I think the magazines are re-placed outside so she has something to read as she soaks up a little sun during the day. Shiloh has received her Rally Novice title from the A.K.C. and has one of the three “legs” needed for her Companion Dog title. She can’t seem to get the other two “legs” that are required — The “Squirrel” has a little trouble in the obedience trials during the long-down exercise. In two shows she got up to follow a Bernese Mountain Dog around the ring and once decided to stay in the down position but did a complete circle while watching a moth (which flew up out of the grass in front of her and flew around her). Ahhhh….we LOVE our “Squirrel” even though she drives us nuts!!!

Bahati, Cattledog mix

Bahati

Name: Bahati

Owner: Beki

City: Phoenix, Arizona

Breed: Cattledog mix

Likes: Agility, hiking, pecans.  Dislikes: Baths, cats

Favorite Toy/Treat/Walk: Hiking the Irregular Link at Dreamy Draw

Best Tricks: She does so many I can’t list them all.

Arrival Story/Bio:

Bahati was found when she walked into a friend’s place of work.  She was starving and covered with ticks.  My friend took her to the vet and then home, but already had two dogs so offered her to me.  Her name is the Swahili word for “Found” or “Luck”.  I think it is a perfect name for a dog with tiger stripes.

Pandora, German Shepherd

Name: Pandora (Nickname: Pandabear, Little Miss, Bear)

Owner: Chris Harris

City: Glendale, Arizona

Breed: German Shepherd

Likes: Playing in water, Running after a ball and training! Pet-Peeves: Not getting enough attention.

Favorite Toy/Treat/Walk: Kong/dehydrated chicken/Off leash in the forest

Best Tricks: When the door bell rings she goes to place and stays there without a command.

Arrival Story/Bio:

My wife and I wanted to get a large dog because we were going to be moving into a bad neighborhood. Luckily for us we were able to move into a better area. Because the breed is such a large breed I wanted to get her trained. The wife had been though Sit Means Sit before with her Beagle. I was impressed with the training. Pandora entered training at about 3-4 months of age. She can now follow most obedience commands and we plan on taking the CGC/TDI test next time it is offered.

Molly, Aussie Mix

Name: Molly

Owner: J.& J. Luckman

City: Paradise Valley, Arizona

Breed: Aussie Mix

Arrival Story/Bio:

Molly is a wonderful dog that we rescued but she liked to lunge and growl at other animals so she went to stay with Toni for a week to jump-start her into better behavior!  Molly learned how to relax a little and is much better at controlling her negative attitude!

Scout, English Shepherd

Scout

Name: Scout

Owner: Joan Maceyko

City: Glendale, Arizona

Breed: English Shepherd

Likes/Pet-Peeves: to play ball / a one person dog

Favorite Toy/Treat/Walk: ball / anything / likes agility

Best Tricks: Left and right turns by word

Arrival Story/Bio:

It was dog love at first sight…really…Scout liked me as soon as I showed up at the owner’s home to take him into rescue. He nipped Ron when I brought him home and my heart sunk…I really thought this wouldn’t work. I contemplated for 3 months if I should adopt him; well, he was so eager to please and listened so very well, that I figured he would make an excellent agility dog. He has turned out to be my heart dog and great companion for agility. I simply love to compete with him as he is so eager to please. We train daily and have fun playing ball and just playing agility. He follows me all over the place, sleeping at my feet or next to the chair. He is always there for me. Couldn’t ask for a better fur friend.
